A beautiful ordinary morning at home • Maryland family photographer

Enjoy the highlights of my time with this family of 4. It was the second time I photographed them and they just wanted to be in their own element, especially for the girls.
From the mom: "Juliette, These pictures are absolutely stunning!  They so beautifully capture our family.  You really got both of the girls' personalities.  Thank you for freezing this precious moment in time for us!!  I am so grateful to you."

Also, can we stop and admire the perfect curls from the 3 ladies in the family?
Yes we can.

I have a documentary approach for photographing families so they can just slow down and enjoy the simple moment of being together. If you would like to see more of my recent family photography, head over to my Instagram account. I love to document the love (and tears) that go into family life, or managing a small business or a sweet reunion. Subscribe to my newsletter, I would love to have you there. xx

Sunday morning in DC • Urban family photography

This post is a little bit personal after what happened in Paris last week. I shot this session the Sunday following the tragic attacks. I felt (and still feel) very emotional about it as lots of friends and relatives live there but thankfully everyone is safe. These events made me realize even more how life is precious and how random events can change the course of our lives. That's why photography is so important to me. Not only because it makes us remember the moments and how we felt but also because it shows the love, the attentions, the connection, the kindness.  And the time that goes by.

I didn't postpone the session and without even acknowledging it first, it soothed me. Watching this lovely family laughing and hugging was all what mattered. Because more than ever, I want to stand up and laugh, drink, eat, love and hold my kids in my arms. I am glad that photography allows me to record the many big and little things that I treasure daily. It really means a lot to me.

And I think LOVE is all we need right now.

For this session, Betsy picked this rad location she knows very well: the streets around the design agency where she works! Those back alleys are really photogenic and we had a blast exploring around. I really felt inspired and I would love to do some more urban sessions like this. If there is an awesome place you love in DC, let's do it there.
Also, lucky us, the coffee shop La Colombe is right in the middle of it all. Their giant cookie and milk were much appreciated by the little man.

Happy Birthday W. You are loved.

Chemistry • Maryland Maternity photographer

Lately, all my close friends got pregnant. Which was awesome because it meant multiple maternity sessions (and newborn sessions!!). I did this shoot for Christine at her home and got totally inspired by that red chair she just got a few weeks before. We brainstormed some ideas; she wanted something intimate with just her and the baby-to-be. But when her son came back from his walk with daddy we snapped a few pictures for the 5 minutes he cooperated. And they turned out really good, I love them all. You can tell that he already loved his little sister really much.

When you have an older kid and get pregnant again, you never know how the chemistry between the 2  will be. It was really sweet to catch loving moments between the big-brother and baby-to-be. I am glad she has those memories forever.

We had some family visiting from France for Spring break and grandpa offered my daughter a bike! Of course we had to try it on a big parking lot not far from our house. And of course, there is a learning curve… Fall down seven times, stand up eight they say isn't it?
