FACES OF HYATTSVILLE

In this series of portraits of Hyattsville residents started in June 2015, I am exploring a sense of community and belonging. I took people’s photographs when they socialized at different events like summer jams, neighborhood watch meetings, clothing swaps etc. I also asked them to share something about Hyattsville and why this place is special to them.

All people are welcome regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race or religion.

All portraits are taken on a white backdrop and converted in Black and White to really focus on the people with no distractions from the surroundings.

I'm still here, just taking it easy! Trying to prioritize peace and simplicity. Been MIA from posting, but I've been snapping away, loving the everyday moments of family life at home. I have some many photos to share (and many new babies!!!!) 🥰

I felt both excited and intimidated to study and submit something this month for
such a myth and legend. I didn’t read through the artist’s PDF until very late (Friday, of
