Questions about family or newborn photo sessions and COVID19? • Maryland family photographer

Your health, your family and your overall well-being should be your number one priority. They are mine too. I have been very careful to respect the State of MD orders by closing down my business and staying home to help flatten the curve.

As restrictions loosen up, you might consider hiring a photographer again. You might have had a little addition to the family or you want to celebrate your life, right now, as it is, or freeze the bizarro times with photos to show future generations how you did it.

I am here for you whenever you are ready.

ARE YOU BOOKING SESSIONS ?

YES, but I am intentionally NOT rushing. I opened my calendar to book small, socially distanced family sessions for July and August.

Restrictions are loosing up in Maryland but the safety of your family and mine is a top priority for me. I follow government recommendations on social distancing and isolation and I want to make sure it is safe for everyone. I will minimize indoor exposure and sessions will be held mostly outdoors.

Due to the pandemic, I cancelled my travel to France this Summer and, rare thing, I will be available for Summer sessions. If you are interested in a photoshoot with me, send me an email through my contact page and I will get back to you quickly.

Also, as a second wave is likely to happen I suggest you DON’T wait for your Fall photoshoots if you would like one. I want to make sure you have updated family pictures this year so keep that in mind.

WHAT A SESSION WITH COVID19 AROUND LOOK LIKE?

Sessions will still be held at-home and mostly outdoor to begin with. I still feel strongly about photographing families in their own environment because this is where you are fearlessly you and the most comfortable. And bonus: no packing the fam in the car to drive to a random park (and better for the earth!). Front and backyard are ridiculously good places for stunning family pictures, as well as stoops, windows and glass doors. I have plenty of ideas! Contact me.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS DO YOU TAKE DURING OUR PHOTOSHOOT?

I only book one photo session a day.

I use longer focal length lenses so I can stay 6 feet away as much as possible. It will still allow me to capture images that seem like we are closer.

I unapologetically wear a disposable KN95 mask to all family, maternity and newborn photography sessions.

I will practice hand hygiene and minimize touching you and your family during the session.

And if something is bothering you before or during the session, ask me, tell me, shout at me!

WHAT IF I AM PREGNANT/ WE HAVE A NEWBORN AT HOME?

Well, first, CONGRATS! I hope it is not too stressful but at least you have a good excuse to stay cozy inside cuddling with bébé. I want to assure you that my style of newborn photography can be done even after baby is a few months old. I will schedule your session as soon as possible. I also have packages for maternity and newborn sessions booked together. Send me an email.

WHO IS INCLUDED IN OUR SESSION?

All the members of your household, the ones you’ve been happily quarantining with for the past 2 weeks. There is a limit of 5 persons allowed per session.

WHAT IF YOU OR SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY GET SICK?

I will not take any chances with health and I will reschedule if myself or ANYONE in my household has been sick in any way within a 2-week span of your session date. If anyone in your household (from baby to grandma living under your roof) has been sick with any symptoms including fever, nausea, vomiting, coughing, runny nose, cold… please let me know. I will make room for you in my schedule as soon as everybody is healthy.

I am of course doing the same thing on my side.

WHAT IF I BOOK A SESSION BUT HAVE SECOND THOUGHTS?

Your safety and peace of mind is my number 1 priority. Hiring a photographer is an investment in your family and I want you to have the best experience. If you’re feeling hesitant, no worries at all. We will transfer your session fee to a later date, at no additional cost. I would just need a 24-h notice if you want to postpone.

LAST TIP: THINK ABOUT BOOKING THIS SUMMER AND NOT POSTPONING TO LATE IN THE FALL

While I hope I can take on Fall sessions, I am encouraging you to not wait too much if you would like a family/ newborn sessions, just in case we see a second wave of COVID later this year. I want to make sure you will have some family photos done in time for Holiday cards, and simply to ensure that your family is captured this year.

In the meantime, pay attention to the gift of now as we don’t know what the future holds.

We might grieve some things we used to do, see, make or have the Fear Of Missing Out (#FOMO) as summer is here but there is power in the here and now. There is still so much good out there if we train our eyes and heart to see it. Stay strong my friends.

I do not take the privilege to be able to photograph your family lightly, ESPECIALLY with this crisis. It has really shined a light on what matters in this world: our loved ones.

I am a documentary family photographer. I love to photograph families at home, the epicenter of family life, where childhood memories are formed. I will capture your story when you are fearlessly you: when you do the things you love to do in the places you love to be. I catch glimpses of your family's personality when you are in the moment enjoying the simple fact of being together.
