Preview of a beautiful ordinary weekend with Sharon's family in Maryland by documentary photographer Juliette Fradin

Sharon and her family is moving from Hyattsville, MD to the Hudson valley this summer. Capturing these photographs at this particular time, in this house meant everything. I will tell you more about it but I just. love. everything. about this session.

In the meantime, subscribe to Sharon's podcast "Design Yourself: For people who want more". She is an executive coach and creative entrepreneur and her weekly episodes are full of down to earth tips and tricks to design "the life you want".

She turned 7 • Personal ongoing project

This year again, I took "One Picture A Day" for the whole month of February to celebrate my daughter turning 7 (on the 23rd). You can look at the one from last year here

Then I order a softcover photo-book and I love to see my little collection growing. My kids too are growing and it's nice to see the faces and the arms + legs lengthen and their personalities flourish. It is a little bittersweet at the same time as the chubby cheeks and clumsy hands vanished slowly. But I am glad to catch my kids everyday for a month in their daily activities from dawn to night.

Storytelling family photography for a year with twin boys!

A year!! I photographed this family for their first year of being a family of 4. Laura asked me to document their family life in 2017 (the boys were born in December 2016) starting from a maternity session. I captured the first breast-feedings and the family visiting from Italy and Brazil (what an awesome mix), the first steps (and also lots of drooling) and the boys turning 1!
Here are some pictures of our last session together at their home where Matteo and Lucas loved peeking through the window (as they always does). They got LOTS of reactions from passerby!
Mom also asked if I could take some pictures in the shower because this is something she, obviously, cannot do by herself and I loved the idea. It is unique and entirely them, the boys loved it.

Beautiful ordinary rainy day at home• Princeton, NJ in-home family photographer

So you think your house is too dark? Or not "bright and airy"? We took these photos on a very rainy Sunday afternoon in November. Sure we ended up in the attic but the kids had fun jumping from one bed to another. And it was the perfect moment to cuddle on the bed.
Home is the epicenter of family life.

These photos were taken during an in-home mini-session. Skip the tantrums and let me come to your house so you don't have to drag all the kids into the car.

This little girl was just 2 weeks old at the time of the photoshoot and her parents happily welcomed her into their life after months of trying. She is now their little princess and they are very touching by the way they carefully take care of her. It reminded me of the birth of my daughter: the worries as new parents, the changes in what used to be your normal life, in my body...

One week after the session, the mom had an health emergency and had to stop breastfeeding cold turkey. Everyone is doing fine now but I am so so glad I caught these moments for them. You never know what life will throw at you. Embrace the NOW.

xoxo

To new adventures • family photographer Takoma park

Returning clients are the best compliment I can get. I mean it, there are so many photographers out there that I feel very fortunate to meet again with "my" families. We started this session looking at a deer in the neighbor's front yard across the street. The little man was making dog sounds which was hilarious. We kept going with their daily routine of dressing him up, going to the nearby park. Nothing forced, just the ordinary. But in the eyes of a 13 months little boy, every thing is a great adventure.

So here is to new adventures this year! Enjoy the moments, be in the present.

Happy 2017 to all from my family to yours.

sweet morning at Union Market • Washington DC family Photographer

Last Mother's day, I did what I love most: taking pictures. I feel so lucky to have a job that I am passionate about and that doesn't feel AT ALL like a job :) This is one of the good things that came with my cross-Atlantic move and I don't regret that decision for a minute.

I spent 2 hours with this lovely family and fellow photographer Winnie Bruce (check her work here!) for a lifestyle family session wandering around Union Market and Dock 5 (that you can rent for a party). To end on a sweet note, we wanted to buy ice cream from the Dolcezza Factory but unfortunately they were closed. We found some good waffles inside the market even though the disappointment for the beloved ice-creams was real...

Life is hard!

Contact me to book your next family session. I would love to capture your uniqueness through my camera.

My next availabilities are:
Washington DC Area • September 17, Nov 5 + 12
NJ + NY + PA • September 10 + 24 - October 8, 15, 22, 29 - November 19, 26

Newborn family session • Maryland family photography

This is already the second time I have the chance to photograph Florence and her family. We did her maternity session last August at home when her daughter turned 1! Yes, you read me well, she has now her hands full with 2 babies really close apart. I cannot imagine the patience it needs not to mention the lack of sleep! I am glad my son is now over a year and that this is behind us.

The sessions with them are always fun and energetic with a little bit of an adventure: when she booked her session Florence asked if I would be interested in taking their pictures first at their home but then at the Alpaca farm they love to go to.
Whaaaaaat??!!!
A newborn session at the farm? with Alpacas?
YES PLEASE!

And at the end of our session, they took me to a nearby cheese farm where Florence worked part time.
And it was heaven.

PS: And check that wall from Anthropologie in the nursery!!!!! :)))
